Abécédaire

The masters revisited in 26 letters of the abecedaire.

By reversing the Catholic motif, this alphabet addresses a prayer to a god in a religious vocabulary, the saints of the pictorial pantheon. I establish a list of all the painters who resemble the long list of saints invoked in the Catholic Church in its prayers, on an alphabet model: St A, St B, pray for us, etc. However, I adopt the form of the litany, divert it from holiness since all these painters are not saints, but these curses, these blasphemies, these complaints, these ecstasies, these cries, these tears, are a condensation of evil, mixed with good.
